Harrison Board of Education recognizes teacher for hard work in Veterans Day celebration

Clarksburg, W.Va - The Harrison County Board of Education discussed several different issues at Tuesday evening's meeting. 

Mrs. "Mickey" Dean, a sixth grade teacher at South Harrison Middle School , was given a plaque for the work she put into the school's veterans day celebration. She starts preparation in June to secure donations, organize veteran appearances, and plan the four day event.

Students and board members stressed appreciation for  the work she puts in.

Also at Tuesday's meeting, the board was presented with a update on the nutrition program in Harrison County schools and its new focus on pushing water as the main drink for students. The nutrition program has been long running in schools around the county and focus on teaching third to fifth grade students about healthy eating, physical activity and choosing the right snacks. 

The board also gave an update on school improvement projects, what has been completed, and goals for moving forward. 

"We wanna make Harrison County and our, and our facilities the best in the state which we, we think is very very important," said superintendent of Harrison County Schools Dr. Manchin. "Not only obviously our quality of education but quality of facilities are very very important so well be looking at that over these next several months."
