BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - United Hospital Center in Bridgeport recently doubled in size after the purchasing 128 acres of land that is adjoining to its current property.
United Hospital Center purchased the land for around $3 million. Hospital management said it views the deal as a great investment.
Back in 1998, the hospital bought a little more than 100 acres, which is the land the building currently sits on.
The hospital said it was not actually looking to purchase land, but could not pass up the convenience and availability of the land.
"Right now, we don't have any plans but the board felt since we have used up almost all of the property that we purchased in 1998 it would be a good investment for future generations to have that land available as the hospital continues to grow," said Geoff Marshall, vice president of support services.
