MORGANTOWN -- Winter weather continues to make driving difficult for local motorists.
Accidents are bound to happen, and that means towing companies are working overtime.
One towing service here in Morgantown receives as many as 40 more calls a day because of the weather -- and sometimes it hauls in more than just a car.
Bad road conditions cause trouble for drivers as the snow falls, and the calls for help pour in. Just ask any tow-truck driver.
"It increases big time -- a lot of people out on these slick roads, it does cause a hazard," said tow-truck driver Robby Murray, "and makes us more busy."
When bad weather hits, accidents are bound to happen, but some are more than the average car crash. Sometimes towing companies have to call out the big 80,000-pound wrecker to get the job done.
One of those calls came in Wednesday morning, when a dump truck almost went over a guardrail.
That meant crews had a ton of work to do.
As the winter weather continues, Summers' Towing Co. said it will continue to haul in vehicles to keep the roads clear regardless of how small or big the problem may be.
