Democrats rally in Fairmont Monday night.
Story by John Kane
FAIRMONT -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is campaigning hard in West Virginia.
And Monday night, the night before the West Virginia primary, she was in Fairmont at a campaign event for Gov. Joe Manchin.
In front of a crowd of more than 2,500 people, local Democratic candidates took the stage, encouraging residents to get out and vote.
The rally is a tradition in the Manchin campaign, and the governor returned to his home county to talk about what he has accomplished since being elected in 2004.
But most of the people at the rally came to see Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Clinton accepted Manchin's open invitation to attend the rally and used the opportunity to push her platform one more time before voters go to the polls.
She stressed health care, gas prices, the war in Iraq and asked West Virginia voters for their support.
Manchin also invited Barack Obama to the rally, but he couldn't make it because of scheduling conflicts.
Manchin hasn't publicly endorsed either candidate.
