JACKSON'S MILL -- Firefighters from across the state gathered at Jackson's Mill Tuesday to visit their new training facility.
They were there for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new West Virginia University Extension State Fire Training Academy.
The 15,000 square foot facility will house high-tech firefighting equipment, as well as offices, classrooms, and a distance learning room.
It will replace the old training center on the WVU campus in Morgantown.
WVU says it will create new opportunities for the community.
The public got a chance to tour the building Tuesday. The 2008 Junior Firefighters Camp is currently training at the facility.
Construction started on the academy in 2006.
