Twelve people became U.S. citizens on Friday.
ELKINS -- The United States welcomed it's newest citizens Friday.
Twelve people took the oath of allegiance Friday morning at the federal courthouse in Elkins to become naturalized U.S. Citizens.
The men and women hail from eleven different countries around the world including Burma, El Salvador and Syria.
Derdlim Masten is originally from Venezuela and says is excited about the opportunities available in the United States.
The new citizens were treated to a reception by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
