Fatal Fire Reported in Barbour County

The fire happened early Saturday morning.

PHILIPPI -- Authorities in Barbour County says a house fire killed at least one person earlier Saturday morning.

911 officials say the fire happened just after 3:30a.m. on Mouse Run Road, which is between Philippi and the Barbour County Fairgrounds.

There is no word on the victim's identity or how the fire started.

Crews were still on scene after 10:00a.m. Saturday morning.

The Barbour County Sheriff's Department is investigating.

Volunteer fire departments from Philippi, Junior, and Belington responded to the fire. The Elkins Fire Department was also put on stand-by.
