WILSONBURG -- Some West Virginia University cheerleaders did their part Wednesday to focus awareness on Red Ribbon Week.
The blue squad performed at Wilsonburg Elementary School in Harrison County.
The cheerleaders also talked to the kids and answered their questions.
Former WVU cheerleader and current Wilsonburg kindergarten teacher Shannon Gaskins says her team strives to be role models.
"They help them to become better citizens and to learn to be respectful and they just come around and talk to them about making good grades and making sure they are drug free," said Gaskins.
Gaskins says her squad is always ready to make its message clear with a cheer.
