BUCKHANNON -- Buckhannon Upshur High School was on lockdown for about an hour and fifteen minutes on Wednesday morning.
School Superintendent Scott Lampinen says students discovered about five live .22 shells in the school's common area.
Lampinen says the principal placed the school on precautionary lockdown and called in the Upshur County Sheriff's Department and the State Police to assist with a search.
He says they did not find anything else.
"Without 100 percent knowing that it was a hunting situation, whether it was or it wasn't, we will always put our kids in the precautionary lockdown," said Lampinen.
Lampinen says a similar situation happened last year, close to hunting season.
