People with asthma may want to avoid a certain drug, healthy people could soon boost their brain with pills, and Obama heads to smoke free White House.

If you suffer from asthma, federal health officials are recommending you stay away from the drug known as Serevent. Researchers say the drug produces a significantly higher rate of complications when compared to older treatments. There is a much more promising report from the FDA about the popular asthma drug, Advair. That drug does not appear to produce an increased risk of serious respiratory complications seen with similar new medicines.
Some scientists now say healthy people should be allowed to boost their brains with pills. Brain boosting medication is prescribed for hyperactive kids and memory impaired seniors but a researcher at the University of Pennsylvania doesn't see any reason why others can not also improve their brain function with pills. Some examples would be middle-aged people looking for more youthful memory powers or multi-taskers looking to keep track of many projects at the same time.
When President-elect Barack Obama multi-tasks at the White House, he won't have a cigarette in his hand. Obama is an occasional smoker, but he is pledging not to light up in the smoke-free White House.
