CLARKSBURG -- Working out is always a good idea when trying to lose weight, but there is more you can do to have success.

Elisa Petree, owner of the Bridgeport and Clarksburg Curves, says that for the best result you should both diet and exercise. Curves is offering special classes to help its members diet better.

One of the major mistakes that dieters make is loading up their shopping carts with prepackaged foods. Many prepackage meals tend to be more expensive, and some might not be as good for you as you think.

The meals tend to be higher in fat and sodium, neither of which is good for your heart, if eaten in excess. Petree tells her clients to save money by setting aside a couple hours a week to cook your own meals and then freeze them to take with you to work.

The Clarksburg YMCA is also offering classes for people trying to get healthy. Mary Bigenar says that members of the class will have weekly meetings and will work with a personal trainer twice each week. They will also get nutrition advice based on what each person wants to accomplish.

The "Y" also has some budget tips to share with the class.

"You don't have to go out and buy anything special," says Binegar. "Just cut out what's bad for you."
