"Hot Rod " Hundley and Ira Errett Rodgers will be given the honor.
MORGANTOWN -- West Virginia University has announced that it will retire the jersey numbers of two famous former players.
The number 33 of basketball legend "Hot Rod" Hundley and the number 21 of early 1900s star Ira Errett Rodgers will be retired.
The WVU Athletic Council decided with a unanimous vote to retire the numbers.
Hundley averaged 24.5 points per game from 1954-57, scoring 2,180 points in his career at WVU.
After being drafted number one in the 1957 NBA draft, he played for the Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers from 1958-63.
Hundley has been a broadcaster for the Utah Jazz since 1974.
Rodgers played baseball, basketball and football for the Mountaineers from 1915 to 1919 and was WVU's first consensus All-American.
He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
Rodgers died in 1963.
Plans for ceremonies will be released at a later date.
Basketball icon Jerry West, number 44 and football star Sam Huff, number 75, are the only other Mountaineers to have their jerseys retired.
