MORGANTOWN -- The local pageant winners will be preparing for the 65th annual Miss West Virginia Scholarship Pageant on June 20
One contestant Jamie Doty is a Junior Psychology Major at WVU.
The Benwood, West Virginia native has her bags packed and she's ready to compete.
Doty's platform is suicide prevention and awareness, a cause that has significant meaning to her after her father committed suicide in 2007.
She says the pageant is about more than just beauty.
"Every single girl is different that is competing in this pageant," says Doty.
"We're all different sizes, we're all different shapes, we're all different colors, we're all from different backgrounds and it’s amazing that every single one of us have what it takes to win.
"Any single girl can go up there feel passionate, want to make a difference and be a leader," says Doty.
