Judge Alan Moats led the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce on a tour of the courthouse this afternoon.

By Hilary Magacs

PHILIPPI -- Judge Alan Moats says he wants the community to be aware of the courthouse's history and beauty.

His courtroom was renovated in 1999, which included fixing its stained glass dome and arches.

Moats says the rest of the courthouse is being remodeled one office at a time, and says the front and back courthouse steps are currently being remodeled.

"It's just important that everybody have information so they can explain to people how progressive this county is and the leadership there is in the county," says Judge Moats.

Moats says work on the steps should be finished next month.
