Some Grafton residents are busy fighting zombies in local movie.
Story by J. Turchetta
We are only days away from Halloween, and while most people are headed to costume parties, a group in Taylor county is busy fighting zombies!
That's because a group of Grafton residents are shooting their own horror film.
The film is called "Back to Life." It is being directed by 19-year-old Matthew King. And he has enlisted the help of his friends and many residents of Grafton for the movie.
He says it has been the community support that he has received that has helped make the film.
Classic horror films like the Dawn of the Dead are some of Kings major influences. So, he set out to write and direct his own original feature length zombie movie with a little help from his friends.
Doing a horror film means special make-up and effects. So for that job, King recruited a high school friend.
Saturday, King was shooting his largest sequence. Where a mob of zombies attack the lead characters. The actors say it's quite an experience.
But before the cameras could roll, there was one last item that needed to be in place before King and his crew could begin the film.
Getting the project blessed by Tom Savini, one of the horror movie industry's best.
And with a simple email, they got it.
King says he is halfway through his shooting schedule and says after all the editing and post-production work is completed, he will debut it online early next year.
