BUCKHANNON -- The state police in Upshur County have canceled a silver alert for an impaired teenager who was missing.

Bobby Lee Benjamin, 17 of Ellamore was located in Columbus, Ohio.

Benjamin was found after troopers spoke to people he had contacted through MySpace.

Columbus City Police officers found Benjamin around 5:00 p.m Friday.

He is said to be in good condition and will stay with police until his mother picks him up.

Benjamin has Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism and ADHD.

He requires a number of medications and had not been taking them, which could intensify the effects of his medical issues.

He was last seen Friday, August 14, at his residence in Ellamore area.

Tips had come in to state police that Benjamin was planning to hitchhike to Weston and possibly continue on to Ohio and even Alaska.

Cell phone records show that he has contacts in all of those places.

I saw that young man on Sunday twice. The first time was at the boat launch at Vandalia and the second time was on I-79 walking towards Clarksburg. He was by Lost Creek exit and was carrying a skate board only. I called Upsher County Sheriff and got a recording today

These searches are never easy. I just wanted to mention that there are free service to help. AChildIsMissing.org is great call service to aid in the search and for families that want to be proactive there is MissingPatient.com Alert and ID system. They provide a free service to register your loved ones. This information can be broadcast to your contacts via cell phone, fax, and email for free to help organize a search. If your police department has a Silver Alert like program, this information can be plugged in. It can really save valuable time.
