MORGANTOWN -- West Virginia University students, parents, and community members spent their Sunday morning helping makeover Morgantown.
During the annual clean up event volunteers picked up trash, helped clean-up and plant flowers near the rail trail and paint dumpsters in the Sunnyside area.
This year Makeover Morgantown was part of Fall Family Weekend giving parents an opportunity to help out.
"It's a great combination of getting the school and community together and taking advantage of some parents sweat and labor that's available, says parent Alex Heavey from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
"And I think it's a great way, at least for me, to get to know the city and community being from out of state generally trying to help out," says Heavey.
This year Makeover Morgantown was a coordinated by Sunnyside Up, WVU Center for Civic Engagement, the Mountaineer Parents Club, Student Government Association and Leadership Studies Student Association.
