BRIDGEPORT -- A Harrison County Library is using West Virginia University's homecoming as a time to highlight native authors.
The Bridgeport Public Library presented their first ever West Virginia Extravaganza today.
West Virginian authors set up displays in the library with their books.
For the kids, there were games, face painting, and caricatures, and adults could enjoy meeting the authors and listening to special guest speakers.
The Library says it's important to honor these accomplished artisans.
"They are a treasure in our state," said children's librarian Crystal Hamrick. "I really believe that if kids would see what these wonderful people could bring to them, not only the kids books but the adult books, they're just treasures, wonderfully written stories about their home place in wild, wonderful West Virginia. How could you get any better than that?"
More than 25 authors attended the Extravaganza.
