The Rev. "Wink" McQuain was pronounced dead on the scene.

PHILIPPI -- A Barbour County man was killed Monday night when the ATV he was riding flipped.

The Rev. Fay Lee "Wink" McQuain, 70, of Belington, was hunting on his ATV in an area off of Shale Road, according to sheriff's department officials.

McQuain was last seen around 11:30 a.m., friends said.

When he had not returned by 6 p.m., friends began searching for him.

They found McQuain's body about 500 feet from his home, underneath the ATV.

The Belington and Junior volunteer fire departments and the medical examiner responded to the scene and pronounced McQuain dead.

He was first taken to Broadus Hospital in Philippi, before being taken to Charleston for an autopsy.

The Barbour County Sheriff's Department is investigating the accident.

The sheriff's department was assisted on the scene by the Division of Natural Resources and the state police.
