MORGANTOWN -- A record number of actors came out for auditions at the West Virginia Theatre Conference.

Auditions took place Saturday, Nov. 7 at West Virginia University's Creative Arts Center.

More than 170 people from all over the country auditioned for the South East Theatre Conference.

Officials say 40-percent of the in-state candidates and 40-percent out of state candidates that auditioned Saturday will have the opportunity to move on.

"These actors have two minutes to show what they've got to show, out of the two minutes that actor can head off and possibly do some great work at SETC and get great work and the other percentage, they have to go home and come back next try it again next year," said Jeffery Ingman, State Audition Coordinator.

The South East Theatre Conference is one of the largest theatre conferences in the United States.
