WESTON -- Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have ruled a Weston fire accidental, according to resident agent in charge Dewayne Haddix.
The fire started in an electrical outlet in an apartment over the Wilson's Carpet Building on West Second Street on the morning of Nov. 2, according to Haddix.
Residents said they smelled smoke around 5:30 a.m., and by 6:30 a.m., the entire top floor was engulfed in flames and thick smoke.
The front apartment was "completely gutted," said Weston Fire Chief Michael Young.
Several pets died in the fire.
