NEWBURG -- The Preston County Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information on some recent diesel thefts for help.

Someone stole diesel fuel from the Bird's Creek United Methodist Church in Newburg between Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 8 a.m., according to a release from the department.

The church uses the fuel for heating, deputies say.

The vehicle involved could have been carrying one or several 55 gallon barrels, and deputies state may even have had a storage tank.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area during this time period should contact Deputy S. Mitter at 304-329-1611.
