BRIDGEPORT -- Bridgeport and South Charleston are two teams who rarely meet and play very different football.
"You're talking about two teams at the opposite end of the spectrum here when it comes to schemes. We're a spread, no huddle offense; a high stacked defense. Of course, Bridgeport does what they've done for years. They line up in a power formation with a stick I, couple of tight ends, and they say, we're coming at you; we're going to bust you in the mouth, now stop us," said South Charleston Head Coach John Messinger.
Both teams only have game video to rely on, but the Indians say they'll keep playing Bridgeport football.
"We're going to do what got us here, and we say that every week. We're going to run the ball, and we're going to play defense," said Bridgeport Assistant Coach Josh Nicewarner.
The Black Eagles are welcoming Bridgeport to Charleston, but are keeping their guard up. They say The Tribe may have a bone to pick.
"They're going to come in with a bit of a chip on their shoulder. We were tied for number two in the final SSAC ranking and we got the nod by virtue of the tie breaker. I'm sure they felt like a 12-0 versus a 11-1 team, that they should probably be ranked number two and maybe they should, I don't know," said Messinger.
Bridgeport chose to play on Saturday. They say they're trying to get comfortable with a new routine.
"If we're fortunate to win, the Super Six is held on Saturday at noon. So we're just trying to find some kind of routine in the whole matter," said Nicewarner.
Kickoff for the Semi-Final game is 1:30 p.m. at Laidley Field.
