MORGANTOWN -- Some dedicated West Virginia University football fans rolled into Morgantown Thursday night, but woke up game day to snow flurries.
"It seems like anytime you play Pitt its going to be cold," said Jeff Traub, WVU fan from Philadelphia, Pa.
The weather didn't stop tailgaters from spending the day outside.
Loyal Mountaineer fans say the weather doesn't matter they've seen snowier backyard brawls in the past and this year is considered mild.
"There's always one game that's really cold and this is it and it really isn't that bad," said Jake Kelchner.
Kelchner is a former Mountaineer quarterback.
He remembers playing and beating Pitt in 1992 and 1993.
"We had a lot of good memories with Pitt unfortunately 2 years ago it was an ugly memories but it's been a lot of fun tailgating here ever since," said Kelchner.
This is the first home game since the Panthers knocked the Mountaineers out of a possible spot in a national title game, and fan say they were ready for the victory.
"It's a great tradition you can't down play it, it's a big game," said fan Robert Knouse, "It doesn't matter if we're ranked it's just a big game."
