Black History Month Art Contest Winners Announced

MORGANTOWN --  Morgantown Mayor Bill Byrne and U.S Cellular announced the winners of the Black History Month Art Contest on Monday.

The Morgantown Boys and Girls Club hosted the second annual black history contest. U.S Cellular invited club members to make portraits of influential black men and women.

Anecia Miller won the $500 first place award for for her portrait of Michael Jackson. The second and third places winners drew pictures of Langston Hughes and Oprah Winfrey.

"We've been in partnership with the boys and girls club for a couple years, it's been a great experience contributing back to the community and providing opportunities for young children," said Primo Zini of U.S. Cellular.

The general public selected the winners from the final ten contestants. Hundred's of entries were originally submitted to the Boys and Girls Club.
