He's Out of Hospital; Huntington Police Seek 2 Men

Huntington police continued their search Thursday for two men who shot an undercover police officer.

Cpl. Darin Dempsey was shot in the leg about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said. He was standing near his motorcycle in a parking lot at Hal Greer Boulevard and Charleston Avenue.

Dempsey told investigators two men shouted at him and then fired two shots. Dempsey told police he returned fire, but the suspects fled on foot.

Dempsey was treated at Cabell Huntington Hospital and released before midnight.

"If someone is bold enough to shoot a police officer, then nobody's safe," Huntington Police Capt. Steve Hall told 13 News.
