You can catch Dana Arquilla every weeknight, co-anchoring WBOY's 5 and 6:00 newscast.
She also is our Special Projects Reporter, creating a series called "Moms in Motion," where she takes us through ideas, controversies, medical news, and today's current trends of motherhood.
She also reports a series called "Finding A Family" which profiles children throughout West Virginia in need of adoption. Her reports have helped several children find loving homes. Before assuming this role, Dana anchored WV Media's statewide newscast "West Virginia Tonight Live".
She comes to us from WFMY in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she was one of the first web anchors in the market. There, Dana was able to connect with the community by integrating the Internet into daily newscasts. One of her most memorable accounts is sitting down with Maya Angelou in her very own backyard, for an in-depth interview on her new Twitter account.
Before that, Dana was the morning anchor and health reporter for WTVO in Rockford, IL. She anchored through many breaking events, including the arrest of then-Governor Rod Blagojevich, and the NIU shooting massacre.
Dana got her start at WJHG in Panama City, FL she reported through four hurricanes, including the mass influx of New Orleanians to Panama City after Hurricane Katrina.
She also broke the news story of a landlord who planted hidden cameras in his tenants' apartments. Because of her story, the landlord was arrested and charged on several counts of video voyeurism.
Dana is a Make-A-Wish volunteer, and a University of Florida graduate (Go Gators!) and grew up in Columbia, SC. She is excited to be in West Virginia, where she and her husband and her new baby boy now call home. They have a pug named "Botox" who gets his name from the new rolls he puts on every year (don't we all?)
If you have a story idea or would just like to say hello, she'd love to hear from you! Email her at the address above.
