On this week's Restaurant Road Trip, we're going to take you to a place located on the corner of Adams and Jefferson Streets in Downtown Fairmont.
Commissioner Butch Tennant and his wife opened up the Marion County Democrat Club opened in July of 2010.
Local residents say they've made it a weekly habit to stop into the Democratic themed restaurant with family and friends to grab a bite to eat.
"Oh, I try to get here at least twice a week, and we always meet here on Friday nights," said customer Peggy Reynolds.
The Democrat Club serves up lunch and dinner items tagged with clever names like the 'Butch Burger' and 'Joe Manchin Spaghetti'.
Whether you're in the mood for a juicy steak, or enormous taco salad, the Democrat Club has a little bit of something to satisfy even the pickiest eaters' taste buds.
"It's more like a family style restaurant. Everybody knows each other and comes around. Everybody is really friendly and hollers and talks to everybody. It's a good gathering place," said Tennant.
Tennant says the restaurant offers healthy options too, like the salad bar, which is also one of the most popular items on the menu.
"These are some of the best you can get in this community or maybe even any place else in the whole state of West Virginia," said Bob Gribben, frequent customer and Marion County City Council member.
Another crowd favorite is the cheese-steak sandwich.
"I love the salad. The salad is great. And, I love the Donkey Cheese-steak. It's the best there is. It's great," said customer Lenny Stafford.
Customers also commented on how big the portion sizes are, and that you get what you pay for.
"The Reuben is very good. They have homemade French fries and home-made chips. They are excellent," said Reynolds.
Residents say it's nice to have a restaurant like the Democrat Club in the heart of downtown Fairmont.
"People want to come into a community where there's something going on. And usually when they're here visiting, they want to find a place where they can have a decent meal," said Gribben.
Tennant says he doesn't want the restaurant's name to fool people who might not be a fan of the Democrat Party.
"They are welcome. You know, we eat all different foods here and we'll feed the Republicans too. We want them to be able to eat well too," he said.
Tennant says the Democrat Club also caters, or you can order your food to-go.
It's open for lunch Mon.-Fri., and serves dinner Thurs.-Sat.
