The River Road Volunteer Fire Department is one big family whose house sits outside of Morgantown. The department protects sections of Monongalia and Marion Counties, with mutual aid from other departments in the area.
Chief David Zinn has been with the department for almost 40 years, working his way through the ranks to the chief position. Zinn finds volunteering "addictive", and feels that helping others is something that he can't get enough of doing.
Besides the usual calls a fire department would respond to, they have had their share of unique ones, from cats in trees to a runaway monkey.
