For the third straight week, the Glenville State Pioneers couldn't stop themselves from stopping themselves. The Pioneers dropped a hard fought contest to the Shepherd Rams 37-20, Saturday afternoon in Glenville. The loss drops the Pioneers to 4-6 on the season.
After falling behind 24-10, Jordan Griffin hauled in a touchdown pass and cut the lead to 24-17 with a few minutes to go in the second quarter. However, the Rams were able to regain six of those points on two field goals just before halftime.
In the second half the Pioneer defense played much better, keeping the Rams from the end zone in the third quarter, including a fourth and inches goal line stand. A late Pioneer fumble led to the decisive touchdown for the Rams in the fourth quarter, killing any chances for a Pioneer comeback.
The Pioneers close the season next week on the road at Seton Hill.
