WVIAC Football Weekend Primer – No. 12

Posted: Updated:

(19) West Virginia Wesleyan (8-1, 5-1) at Concord (6-3, 6-1) – 1:00 p.m.

This game is undoubtedly the biggest contest of the season for both teams. Wesleyan lost its first game of the season last week to Charleston. That caused a tie for first place in the conference between the Bobcats and Concord. The winner of this game will be the 2011 conference champion.

Last week Concord beat West Liberty 32-29. Wesleyan lost to UC 28-17.

WVWC quarterback Adam Neugebauer still leads all of Division II football in just about every offensive category.

The Bobcats beat the Lions 20-13 last season.

Shepherd (8-2, 5-2) at Fairmont State (7-3, 4-3) – Noon

Shepherd dropped out of the Top 25 in Division II football earlier this season. When the poll came out last week, the Rams were back in the "receiving votes" column.

SU beat Glenville State 37-20 last week while FSU escaped Institute with a 35-31 win over WV State.

Shepherd won this contest 19-16 last season and 27-14 in 2009. In 2008, it was Fairmont State with the close win 46-42.

Expect this one to be another nail biter.

Glenville State (4-6, 4-3) at Seton Hill (1-9, 1-6) – 3:00 p.m.

GSC is looking to bounce back from a tough 37-20 loss to Shepherd last week. That shouldn't be hard against a Seton Hill team that has won just one game the entire season.

Joe Mesadieu continues to be tough for the defense to tackle. The running back helped the Pioneers convert on three red-zone chances last week.

Seton Hill fell to non-conference opponent Urbana 40-21. The Griffins put numbers on the board first in the game, but then not again until the final quarter.
