The Alderson-Broaddus women's soccer team's first trip to the NCAA tournament in school history was short and sweet. The Lady Battlers entered the bracket as a six seed and faced third-seeded Slippery Rock in the first round Friday, losing by a final of 2-0.
A-B recorded just two shots the entire game, one was on goal. However, A-B did take four corner kicks.
The first score of the game came in the 21st minute from Slipper Rock's Erin Storck. That 1-0 would be the same at halftime. Just minutes after starting the second half, Shelby Ward scored SRU's second goal, giving the three seed a 2-0 advantage.
WVIAC Women's Soccer Player of the Year had two saves in the game as goal keeper.
The Alderson-Broaddus Women's Soccer team finishes a very historic season with an 11-7-3 record.
