
The Bobcats were picked to finish seventh in the conference and ended up finishing second after losing the pseudo conference championship game against Concord 48-40.
The game was a back-and-forth affair with each team jumping out and then giving up leads. The Bobcats went up 34-21 with 11:19 left in the third quarter, but then the Lions stormed back, scoring four straight touchdowns.
The Bobcats rallied valiantly, but after pulling the score within eight, the onside kick was recovered and the Lions were able to run out the clock on their way to the programs first WVIAC championship since 1990.
Senior quarterback Adam Neugebauer threw for 448 yards and four touchdowns in the loss. Jon Meadows had a team high 10 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown.
The Bobcats finished the season 9-2 and are awaiting their playoff fate.
