
Freshman year was good to two local football players. Fairmont State's Daniel Monroe earned the Offensive Freshman of the Year award. Glenville State's Hunter McWhorter was named the Defensive Freshman of the Year.
Monroe carried the ball 206 times for 999 yards in his opening campaign with the Falcons. The Miami native only played in 10 games, we he averaged almost 100 yards per game and about five yards per carry.
McWhorter brought his talents to Glenville from Lewis County High School. As a lineman, the freshman recorded nine total tackles, five solo, three for loss and two sacks.
