The Davis & Elkins men's basketball team started the 2011-2012 season off with a loss to UPJ. However, the Senators have three starters returning to the court and Head Coach Bruce Martin said he thinks that gives D&E a good shot to be in Charleston at the end of the season. Of course, that's exactly where the team wants to be.
PJ Turner, Ian Pinckney and Malik Tinsley will be the Senators' leaders. Picnckney and Tinsely were the third and fourth leading scorers on the team last season.
D&E is a get out and run team that plays well with an open floor. The Senators just need to avoid getting hurt.
"We're making strides and pretty much we've got to shift through injuries. We just can't get the injury bug and get hit with that because we're not an extremely deep all club," said Coach Martin. "If we can stay healthy and get our good guys out here practicing every day, we should have a chance to finish strong."
