No. 7 Cabell Midland travels to No. 2 Bridgeport, Friday for a second round playoff game at Wayne Jamison Field.
Last week, the Knights beat Wheeling Park in overtime. Bridgeport defeated rival RCB.
What we've learned about these two teams is that they both like to run. One difference is that Midland doesn't play many guys two ways.
Both head coaches said that they think this game will come down to whatever team makes less mistakes.
Cabell Midland is 8-3 under first-year Head Coach Luke Salmon. He said that Bridgeport presents a different type of challenge to the Knights because the two teams are so similar.
"We're multiple but at the same time we're going to be who we are. We like to run the ball, a lot. We know Bridgeport does too so it might be one of the fastest games in history. We pride ourselves on being physical. We play a lot of kids. We play 30-40 kids a lot. So we pride ourselves in the fundamentals and the basics."
When it comes to Bridgeport, Head Coach Josh Nicewarner said his team is playing as well as they have all year defensively, but he'd still like to see more out of his offense and avoid close games like last week against Byrd.
"You're playing the best teams in the state and in playoff time it's always nice to have a little adversity and we saw a little bit of that during the season and we've always responded well to it. Last week was no different and I'm sure we'll face a little bit this week. From the standpoint of does it help, I think it does but sometimes it's nice to have those easy games."
Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Wayne Jamison Field in Bridgeport.
