Bridgeport Prepares for Clash with George Washington in Semi-final's

Posted: Updated:

The Bridgeport football team has had quite the magical run this season. The Indians finished undefeated in the regular season at 10-0, and as a result earned the No. 2 ranking at the end of the season.

Bridgeport knocked off cross-town rival RCB by a touchdown in the first round, then ran all over Cabell-Midland in the second round on its way to the 41-8 victory.

But Friday night's semifinal game against George Washington offers a variety of challenges for the Indians' defense. Patriots junior wide out Ryan Switzer has been a nightmare for opposing defenses, shredding blockers and secondaries for several touchdowns this season.

But the Bridgeport defense should be up to the task. The Indians have only allowed an average of nearly 12 points per game, and Bridgeport Head Coach Josh Nicewarner understands this game will be one of the toughest yet.

"I was able to go to their game on Saturday and that was one of the things that impressed me was that they're not a huge team by any means. They're actually a lot like us and they get off on the snap count very hard and stay low and stick with their blocks. And that's a winning formula I can promise you," Nicewarner said.
