Bridgeport Must Stop Switzer

BRIDGEPORT -

The Bridgeport football team has put turkey day behind it and turned all its attention to Friday night's third round playoff game against George Washington.

Of course the Indians have home field advantage but Head Coach Josh Nicewarner said they still need to play with confidence.

The teams are similar, both prefer to run. Bridgeport can hand off to Brett Hathaway, Nick Smith or Anthony Bonimico and expect positive yards. GW counts a little more on one player, that is Kennedy Award favorite Ryan Switzer.

Nicewarner said his team needs to keep the Patriots' big plays to a minimum. That could be GW's kryptonite because Patriots' Head Coach Steve Edwards, Jr. said his players get frustrated when the other team hogs the ball and runs the clock. That is exactly Bridgeport's game. If the Patriots do get the chance, they are quick scorers and they will try and make Bridgeport bend to that.

"It puts the pressure back on the other squad. They have to start playing the type of ball that we like to play," said GW Head Coach Steve Edwards, Jr. "So, it's a chess game. It's a strategic game. We've been fortunate so far. The last time, though, we played Bridgeport they were really good at doing what they did."

"I'd be lying if I didn't say I know who Ryan Switzer is, Dustin Crouser and guys like that," said Bridgeport Head Coach Josh Nicewarner. "Our main thing is to focus on what we do so well. Of course we prepare, and we scheme for an opponent, but we pay really close attention to how we're playing."
