Neugebauer Named Region One Offensive Player of the Year

Adam Neugebauer's career at West Virginia Wesleyan has come to an end but the awards and accolades continue to pour in for the quarterback. Neugebauer has been named the Daktronics Super Region One Offensive Player of the Year as voted by the region's sports information directors.

The senior also boasts the WVIAC Offensive Player of the Year award. Powerratedsports.com named Neugebauer the D2 All Bilo QB of the Year. He will also be a part of the All American Eagles all star football tam that will play in the Aztec Bowl Dec. 3 in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Out of all the accolades, the most prestigious one has yet to be decided. Neugebauer is one of nine finalists for the Harlon Hill Trophy which is the equivalent to the Heisman Trophy in Division II football.

The Pittsburgh native broke record after record at Wesleyan in his final season. He is now the single season leader in touchdowns with 40 and total yards, amassing 4,111. Neugebauer led all of NCAA D-II football in the country in passing and total offense. He finished second in total touchdowns. On the season, the senior completed 353 passes, 67 percent overall. With a 9-2 record in 2011, WVWC finished at No. 15 in the powerratedsports.com D2 PRS rankings.

In the 2011 season, Neugebauer three for more than 300 yards in each game. He surpassed 350 yards in seven games and threw for more than 400 yards in three games. In his final game as a Bobcat, Neugebauer totaled 446 yards.
