Fairmont State junior Matt Wilmer only went to the house once this season during a punt return, but it was his entire body of work that got him named to the second team Daktronics All-Super Region 1 team.
Wilmer is a field position weapon. He was the top punt return man in the country averaging 23 yards per return. His 530 yards were second in the nation despite 12 fewer returns than the leader.
Wilmer had the longest punt return in the country with his 93-yard punt return against Clarion in the first week of the season. 11 of the 23 punts he returned went into the opposition's territory. In addition, he had 316 yards on just nine kick returns (35.1 yards per return).
He was named WVIAC Special Teams Player of the Week twice in 2011, he was also names to the WVIAC First Team.
