The GFS snow totals through Thursday afternoon, note the snow totals over the eastern mountains.
© The NAM model is a bit more robust with the snow totals.
The rest of this week looking much cooler along with threat of some rain and snow. Still some uncertainty about a system for the middle of the week....
Tuesday, a slow moving cold front makes progress east over West Virginia. This is looking like a good set up for rain showers over the state. The front looks to move, so the threat for heavy rain and flooding not expected at this time.
I think by evening Tuesday the pattern quiets down as energy pulls away. This will be temporary as low pressure is forecasted to move northeast into the region Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. The track of the low is crucial which means either more snow or very little at all. You can see to the right an early look at what the computer models are looking at as far as snow totals by Thursday afternoon. At this time, I like the GFS numbers.
Another shot of cold air comes in Friday. Not a lot of moisture with this one, but could produce a few snow showers Friday afternoon and evening, most likely over the mountains.
