WVIAC Spotlight: Hannah's Wish

"I know our SAAC organization; one of our main goals is to raise money for Make-A-Wish. And too many times you're asked to do things, 'go do this, go raise money for that, go pick this up, go do that.' You really don't know what it's for. You don't see who it's for. You don't see the results of after all of your hard work," FSU Athletic Director Rusty Elliot said.

The hard work of several student-athletes at Fairmont State University helped grant the wish of a lifetime for a young girl by the name of Hannah Underwood.  Hannah's story dates all the way back to when she was only a year old, when doctors diagnosed her with a rare form of Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum.

"That is the butterfly piece of your brain and she is completely missing that. She does not have it at all. Her brain has to re-wire everything to get one message from one side of her body to the other," Hannah's mother, April Kalleel said.

Hannah's wish was to become a princess. So, with the help of the Falcon student-athletes and the North Central West Virginia chapter of the Make-A-Wish foundation; Hannah, alongside her mother April, took a memorable trip to Disney World during the month of October.

"What was the best part of your Disney trip?" Hannah's mother April asked.

"I liked the princess part!" Hannah replied.

"She won the most important game and that's the game of life. So Hannah, good job," Elliot said.
