WVIAC Student-Athletes Recognized For Academic Achievements

Two Fairmont State football players were named Academic All-Americans while the entire men's soccer team at West Virginia Wesleyan garnered team recognition for their collective academic effort.

Senior kicker Frank Keenan and junior Dewey McDonald were named to the Capitol One Division II Academic All-America first team. Fairmont State is one of three schools two have multiple first team selections.

Keenan maintained a 4.0 G.P.A. pursuing a Masters in business administration. He set a school record for point-after conversions with 40. He also kicked 10 field goals on the season for fifth-most in school history.

McDonald maintains a 3.92 G.P.A. while majoring in both sport management and business management. He was second on the team with total tackles (73) and have intercepted nine passes during his career to date.

The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team was recently recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for its hard work in the classroom.

As a team, they kept their collective G.P.A. at 3.03. For a team to be eligible for this honor, they must be above a 3.0 G.P.A.

The Bobcats were the lone men's team in the WVIAC to be recognized.
