It may have a comic-strip name, but Dagwood's Restaurant in Clarksburg is serious about providing its customers with good food. Owner John Demopoulos opened the first Dagwood's in Baltimore years ago, but after a few years, he decided to move both his family and his business here to Clarksburg.

"My wife's cousin lives out here, she lives right outside of Bridgeport, so we came out here and we really liked the area, so we built a house here and then we opened up a restaurant here, so we decided to move Dagwood's from Baltimore to here," said Demopoulos.

Since then, Dagwood's has been keeping Clarksburg fed... especially during the day, when people come in for their lunch breaks. Although there's plenty of local favorites on the menu, it's what isn't so common that keeps people coming back.

"A gyro is my regular thing, only because it is so unique, and it's something you can't just go get. You can get a burger almost anywhere, but you can't get a gyro anywhere," said customer Connie Pollock, who comes in to Dagwood's every week.

But it's not all about the gyros. Demopoulos takes care with every item he has on the menu to make sure it's something worthy of his restaurant.

"I'm very selective about what I sell, very selective. I won't sell something just to make money at it. It's got to be good and make money at it, but I won't just sell anything," said Demopoulos.
