JUNIOR -
The Heart and Hand Christmas Toy store has been open all week in Junior, Barbour County.
It sells brand new toys at discounted prices to low income families with children. Shoppers are able to purchase up to 6 gifts in various price categories.
It also has basics and essentials available for free. This includes school supplies and under garments. Stuffed animals and lightly used toys are also free at the store.
Organizers said it's important for people to purchase Christmas presents for friends and loved ones.
"The purpose of this is to help give them ownership of the gift giving process at Christmas," said director at Heart and Hand Brenda Hunt. "There are a lot of programs that give free toys away which is necessary for a lot of our families. But, a lot of them want to do their own shopping."
Heart and Hand said 42 families with 84 children already have shopped at the store.
They will be open Monday through Wednesday next week for low income people with or without children.
