The American model, GFS, dry as a bone on Christmas morning.
The European model bringing rain in on Christmas!A dilemma in the forecast for the upcoming weekend forecast, which includes Christmas Eve and Christmas. Yesterday, we were leaning towards the GFS model, which kept the holiday dry and seasonal. We ignored the Euro model, which brought in some rain showers and some late day snow showers. Now, we have changed our minds due to the fact that the GFS seems to be having problems picking up the long wave pattern.
Because of that, we will include the chance of some rain and snow showers for Christmas. This in turn will keep Christmas Eve dry at this time. On Monday, it will get cooler with snow showers lingering over the state.
As I write this, the latest update of the GFS is now hinting at some precip on Sunday, but to a lesser extent.
So we could see some snowflakes on Christmas! Stay tuned for updates!
