Every year is a great sports year, no doubt about it, and 2011 was especially a good year.
It started early as the Glenville State women's basketball team picked up a WVIAC basketball championship and actually finished that season, on average, as the highest scoring women's basketball team in all of Division II.
Following that, the North Marion Lady Huskies picked up a third-straight AAA state championship, which made me so proud of Mike Parrish and the girls from Rachel. Of course, they made all of North Central West Virginia proud.
Later in July it was my 25th birthday and I spent it in Kentucky with Josh Richards for his very first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. It was a great thing to experience and was so happy I got to be there.
This fall was nice too. I followed Bridgeport pretty much the whole way in football. Next year they'll be a AA team and they may have a bit of better chance, but the Indians went pretty far in the playoffs. I was very proud to be a part of that team too.
Of course, 2011 was a great year, but here's to hoping 2012 will be even better. Happy New Year!
