A few weeks ago Alderson-Broaddus athletic director Denny Creehan introduced four new coaches for four new programs that the university will be competing in starting next season.
The next sport is Women's Lacrosse. Emilia Ward joins the Battlers as the new head coach after working at Winthrop University and Adrian College in Michigan.
She played college lacrosse at Manhattan College and brings both coaching and playing experience to the new program.
Even though women's lacrosse doesn't have a full conference membership yet, Ward believes by 2013 they will be competing at a national level.
"Hopefully we'll be in a conference by then. We're working with a couple of different conferences right now to try and get in, so our hopes are to be in a conference competing for that conference championship. But if not definitely competing for regional births, and everything like that in our third or fourth year of the program," Ward said.
