Fire Marshal Rules Mount Clare Fire Arson

Update:

A fire that occurred Monday on Alpha Hill in Mount Clare has been ruled arson.

Assistant State Fire Marshal Mackey Ayersman said the recently unoccupied dwelling had no utilities on at the time of the fire.

Neighbor's also observed a vehicle leave the scene a near the time of the fire, Ayersman said.

Harrison County fire departments responded to a fire on Alpha Hill Road in Mount Clare early this morning.

Officials said the fire started just before 5:30 a.m. Monday.

Officials said no one was in the home at the time of the fire and firefighters said it didn't have utilities.

Officials ruled the home a total loss. Firefighters were called back to the scene just before 10 a.m., with a small amount of smoke coming from the home.

Mount Clare Fire Chief Dan McNemar suffered an ankle injury and was treated.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating.

The Mount Clare, Lost Creek, West Milford and Nutter Fort fire departments responded to the fire.
