Alderson-Broaddus guard Nate Barnes is starting 2012 off on the right foot.
The WVIAC announced Tuesday that Barnes and Seton Hill's Matt Miller are the first recipients in 2012 of the WVIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week award.
Barnes helped the Battlers pick up a road win against Shepherd, Monday. The senior hit six of eight shots, totaling 19 points. Barnes had nine assists, hit one three-pointer and sank all six free throws. He also tallied four rebounds and two steals.
The conference named WVWC's Kelsey Williams as another top performer.
